started as a bunch of company-owned townsites, built in the shadows of mines such as the Paymaster, Pamour, BUffalo, Ankerite, and Dome mines

work during the depressio years attracted immigrants, both domestic and international, making the Porcupine the new multicultural canada before Canadian towns and citities became culturally diverse as we know them today.
