Marten River is a hamlet of about 100 people 45 kilometres south of Temagami. On the south end of Lake Temagami, the town is largely dependent on forestry and tourism, and is home to a number of lodges and outfitters. Marten River Provincial Park has camping, hiking, and a replica 19th century logging camp. Every July there is the annual Logging Days Festival. It is also home to Highway 11’s biggest fish. There is a gas station in town, Marten River Outfitters, and a few little places to eat, including the Rock Pine Motel and Restaurant. There
are three lakes near Marten River - Marten Lake, Ingall Lake, and Jumping
Caribou Lake. The lake is stocked with fish and there is also
hiking at the local crown game preserve.
