Temiskaming District
Ontario Highway 11 Homepage

Bordered on the west by a forested shield and on the east by Lake Temiskaming and the Quebec border, the Temiskaming part of Highway 11 is beautiful.  This is northern Ontario’s farm country, as the claybelt fosters production of grains, corn, potato, milk, and cheese.  Mining was huge around Cobalt and the area was so weathy that it had two teams in what was then the NHL.  Further to the south, the old growth forests of Temagami beckon with hiking and boating.

North Bay is one of northern Ontario’s major cities, while Kirkland Lake and the Tri-Town (New Liskeard / Haileybury / Cobalt) are other major towns in Temiskaming.

To begin your journey, start in North Bay (if you’re going northwest) or in Matheson (if you’re going southeast.)
